Reduce the risk

We have seen many landslides that appear to be caused by risk factors that could have been mitigated. These risk factors most often appear to be surface water or water infiltration.

'Erosion control' products stabilise the surface of the slope, protect it from water flowing over-land and help plants grow. This is an important part of reducing the risk of a landslide.

It is also important to manage water below ground. Infiltration control surfaces can be applied to a slope to manage the amount of water entering a slope. There are also various types of sub-soil drains that can remove water from the ground.

Appropriate planting provides structural support to the slope and can be a cost effective risk reduction measure.
